Private Investigation Techniques
If you want to do your own sleughing, there are various private investigation techniques you can use. Maybe you don't have the money to hire a professional private investigator, or maybe you don't feel comfortable doing so. Before even deciding to get into this, make sure the situation is in no way dangerous to you. In that case it would be most wise to contact the police and let them take care of matters. On the other hand if you are sure that no harm will come from a little investigating, read on.
If you choose this career, you will need to gather various items that will be essential for the success of your career. The first thing you'll need to do is gather your supplies. You will need an old fashioned notepad and pen to take notes. Something small that can be fit in your pocket, glove compartment or other small container. And, you may need a tape recorder on which to record verbal notes you don't have time to write down. These tools are excellent for automobile surveillance. For example, if you are tracking someone who might be cheating on their spouse, you may need these items for your vehicle.
If you are doing surveillance work via an automobile, dont use your own car because someone might recognize you or your car. Rent a mini-van that blends in with the rest of the traffic, or at the least a nondescript family car. As far as your appearance, you don't need a wig or anything fancy, just a hat and sunglasses is enough to conceal your face and look natural and not out of place. Always take note of when you start tailing the mark, when you stop and anything interesting you discover.
Remember, there are plenty of online private investigation techniques you can use as well. They can help you track down your high school sweetheart or find a deadbeat dad who skipped out on child support. Whether you are planning a class reunion or looking for someone who wronged you, programs like Net Detective are utilized by real private investigators in their computer tasks. Before spending any money on an online investigation software program or service, make sure you read all the fine print so you'll know what you are getting, and be clear whether or not the fee to use the software is one-time or recurring.
